Attack: Horowitz calls for those in authority to be crushed
Horowitz ventures further into his heart of darkness:
Summary: On MSNBC's Scarborough Country, right-wing activist David Horowitz claimed that "[t]here are 50,000 professors" who are "anti-American" and "identify with the terrorists."
There are just over 400,000 tenured and tenure-track full-time university professors in the United States. If Horowitz's numbers are accurate, that means approximately one out of every eight tenured or tenure-track college and university professors is a terrorist sympathizer.
What a bizzare thing to say! For those who don't know, Horowitz is a former Maoist, turned hard right-wing propagandist.Look at what else he's had to say:
At present, our objective is to struggle against and crush those persons in authority who are taking the socialist road, to criticize and repudiate the reactionary leftist academic "authorities" and the ideology of the socialists and all other exploiting elites and to transform education, literature and art, and all other parts of the superstructure that do not correspond to the capitalist economic base, so as to facilitate the consolidation and development of the capitalist system.
Ha! Fooled ya! That's from Decision Concerning the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, China, 1966! That's the document which launched the dismal and oppressive Cultural Revolution.
Well , I changed a few words. Just a few. Here's the original:
At present, our objective is to struggle against and crush those persons in authority who are taking the capitalist road, to criticize and repudiate the reactionary bourgeois academic "authorities" and the ideology of the bourgeoisie and all other exploiting classes and to transform education, literature and art, and all other parts of the superstructure that do not correspond to the socialist economic base, so as to facilitate the consolidation and development of the socialist system.

quick question.
Without BUYING the book (poor college student), can i get a LIST? I mean, i'd like to know if my prof's are dangerous.
No, he needs your money.
PS again, what is the narrative here? I don't understand. Did Horowitz actually make that claim in that context? And who wrote that second part?
I just love it how people paint Horowitz with all the dirty totalitarian titles they come up with. It just reveals that these people who only attack Horowitz based on the fact that they hate for what he is doing in trying to suggest the academia and the American educational system to have intellectual diversity is a "Communistic" or "fascistic" thing is really stupid.
These people ought to look in the mirror and see that they are the ones who are defending totalitarian ideologies.
Teaching "Intelligent Design" and other nonsense is no more about diversity than randomly marking test questions right or wrong is. Some things are backed up by the proponderence of the evidence. Others...not. Just because someone believes it's true doesn't make it so, and telling them they are right isn't showing tolerance of intellectual diversity. There's nothing intellectual about it. It's ignorance.
So I guess having Leftie ideologues teaching that during the Cold War, America was "the bad guy" and the Communist nations were the "innocent victims" doesn't count as ignorance?
What is wrong with this? "[C]riticize and repudiate the reactionary bourgeois academic 'authorities' and the ideology of the bourgeoisie and all other exploiting classes and to transform education, literature and art, and all other parts of the superstructure that do not correspond to the socialist economic base, so as to facilitate the consolidation and development of the socialist system."
This is what we need to do. I bet you wouldn't have a problem with any of this if we took the word "capitalist" and replaced it with "slavery."
Maybe I have misunderstood you, but Horowitz is a fascist. He is the opposite of a communist. Communists are the enemies of fascists. So why bring Chinese communists into the discussion?
