David Horowitz to Speak on Islamo-Fascism at USC · 30 October 2009

Conservative author and critic of Islamo-fascism David Horowitz will speak at the University of Southern California on Wednesday, November 4th as part of a nationwide Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week.

The campus chapter of the College Republicans is hosting Horowitz’s speech which is titled “Stop the Campus War Against Israel and the Jews.” The speech will take place on the USC campus at 7:00pm in Seeley G. Mudd Hall, room 101.

During his lecture, Horowitz will address the growing controversy on campus over an Islamic Hadith (holy verse) posted by USC’s Center for Muslim-Jewish Engagement on its website. Dubbed the “Hadith of Hate,” the verse reads: “Abur Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him…”

“When it says ‘engagement,’ does the CMJE really mean ‘genocide’?” Horowitz queried. “If not, why would the CMJE post a genocidal Hadith on its website, and why isn’t there a campus outrage against this incitement to murder?”

Horowitz’s speech has also already provoked controversy among students on the USC campus where the organization Students for Justice in Palestine has slandered Horowitz in a publicly disseminated message on Facebook as “a lunatic…a rabid Islamophobe, racist, and sexist” and has promised to “oppose this speaker in any way possible.”

Responding to these criticisms, Horowitz declared, “I am not a racist and I am not an Islamophobe. I have organized protests on more than 100 college campuses against the oppression of Muslim women. I have published booklets against the oppression of Muslim women and I have sponsored panels with Muslim speakers against the oppression of Muslim women… I hope members of the USC community will appeal to university officials to see that civility and order are maintained around this event, and that Students for Justice in Palestine are put on notice that this kind of anti-intellectual and uncivil behavior is unacceptable.”

Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week is a program of the David Horowitz Freedom Center designed to raise awareness among American college students of the terrorist threat posed by Islamic radicals. More information can be found at www.terrorismawareness.org.
